David CHU | Principal

Principal David Chu has been a pioneer in youth mathematics education in Australia for nearly a decade. A graduate of Tsinghua University, he distinguished himself with exceptional mathematical talent and was selected for China’s Mathematical Olympiad training camp. After more than ten years of entrepreneurship in the biomedical and informatics industries in China, he chose to move to Australia, devoting himself to youth mathematics education—particularly the highly challenging field of Olympiad mathematics. He firmly believes that inspiring students’ intrinsic passion for learning is far more important than mere knowledge transmission. As the founder of Quantum Education (QE), Principal Chu has combined the strengths of Chinese and American Olympiad training philosophies with the learning styles of Australian students, creating a comprehensive curriculum that spans from introductory Olympiad mathematics to advanced high school levels. He has remained firmly committed to frontline teaching, delivering more than 5,000 hours of lessons and personally guiding hundreds of students on their Olympiad journey. Recognising the profound influence of mathematics as a foundational discipline, he not only imparts problem-solving techniques but also cultivates genuine curiosity and a spirit of scientific inquiry. In 2019, he introduced the prestigious United States of America Mathematical Competition (USAMC) to Australia and, as the official partner, has tirelessly promoted its growth. Within just six years, participation increased thirteenfold—opening doors for Australian students to world-class academic platforms while greatly enhancing their enthusiasm and sense of pride in mathematics. Under his guidance, more than 50 students have been selected for Australia’s National Mathematics and Informatics Olympiad training camp (School of Excellence), and several have gone on to represent Australia in national teams across mathematics, informatics, physics, and artificial intelligence. Many of his outstanding graduates have continued their studies at the world’s top universities, including Princeton, the Wharton School, Stanford, MIT, Cambridge, and Oxford. These achievements are not only the pride of his students but also the strongest testament to his educational philosophy. Beyond teaching, Principal Chu actively contributes to the broader education and community services. As a member of the Mathematical Association of Victoria (MAV), he participates in policy discussions to advance the development of mathematics education. He also serves with the Rotary Club Youth Committee, supporting initiatives that foster the growth and wellbeing of young people. Principal David Chu is more than an accomplished educator—he is a mentor deeply devoted to his students, dedicated to igniting their lifelong passion for learning. Through his work, he continues to build bridges for every child with a dream in mathematics, guiding them toward greater heights.
